That was just fine after the defensive show the Angels struggling slugger put on in Los Angeles 7-2 win over the Houston Astros. Joe Blanton pitched seven sharp innings, and Howie Kendrick and Chris Iannetta both homered to lead the Angels. Alberto Callaspo and Erick Aybar drove in two runs apiece in a big fourth inning, but it was Hamilton who everyone was talking about. He likely robbed Houston of two home runs with his glove. "Through this whole struggle on the offensive side with him trying to find his comfort zone in the box, hes played great defence for us," Los Angeles manager Mike Scioscia said. "Great range, today he took away a couple home runs. Josh made them look easy." Blanton (2-10) tied season lows with three hits and two runs, pitching six scoreless innings before a two-run home run by Brett Wallace in the seventh. He appreciated the work of Hamilton perhaps more than anybody. "They were both great catches," Blanton said. "Short field over there, he played the wall great, timed his jumps perfectly, made two outstanding plays." Kendricks solo homer came in the fifth and Iannetta tacked on two with a home run in the eighth. Houston starter Jordan Lyles (4-3) was done in by a four-run fourth inning by the Angels. He allowed five hits, four runs and walked two in four innings for his first loss against Los Angeles in three starts. Blanton was perfect through 3 1-3 innings before a double by Jose Altuve. Altuve advanced to third on a wild pitch before a two-out walk to Chris Carter. Blanton escaped the jam when Hamilton leaped to grab a fly ball hit by J.D. Martinez at the wall in right field. It was the second time Martinez hit the ball hard and came away empty. Mike Trout caught another drive from him on the warning track in left-centre in the second inning. Hamiltons second nifty defensive play came when he jumped and reached over the short wall in right field to catch a ball hit by Matt Dominguez in the seventh inning. Hamilton tumbled to the ground after the catch while Dominguez stood motionless and stared at him in disbelief. He didnt think the first one would have been a home run, but was certain that the second one would have gone out. Hamilton, who joined the Angels this season after signing a five-year, $125 million contract, is hitting just .221 with 10 homers this season. He was disappointed in a span earlier this season when he wasnt hitting well and he was struggling on defence. "If you dont do it at the plate you want to do it in the field, and during that stretch I wasnt doing it either way," he said. "I felt like I wasnt. But I feel better. Everybody keeps telling me to go out and play and have fun. Just relax." He did just that on Saturday, and said making plays like that "are favourite things for me, more fun than hitting a home run." Mark Trumbo singled to get things going in the fourth inning. Lyles then started to struggle with control, plunking Howie Kendrick before walking Hamilton to load the bases. Callaspos single scored Trumbo and Kendrick to make it 2-0. Things continued to go downhill for Lyles when he hit Peter Bourjos with a pitch. Aybars two-run single pushed the lead to 4-0, but he was out trying to stretch it into a double. Lyles finally escaped the inning when Trout lined out to Brandon Barnes in centre field. "I think it is one of those things where you try to make the perfect pitch, and you are falling behind and you try to make a better pitch and a better pitch and a better pitch. He could not get his fastball command back," Houston manager Bo Porter said of Lyles in the fourth inning. Kendrick hit his ninth homer of the season to the seats in right field off Josh Fields with two outs in the fifth to make it 5-0. Orgeron was a highly recruited lineman coming out of South Lafourche, and Alabamas Bear Bryant was interested in recruiting him. Orgeron still remembers Bryant calling the house one night and talking to his father.Coach Bryant wanted to come visit me, but my father told him not to bother, that I was going to LSU, Orgeron said. Thats just how it was.Orgeron only lasted two weeks at LSU after growing homesick and returning to Larose. The very next day, his father put him to work digging ditches as part of the elder Orgerons crew with the local telephone company.It was humiliating for Orgeron, who said people would drive by in cars and yell insults to him for having the audacity to leave LSU before his career ever had a chance to get started.Theyre yelling, You f---ing pansy. You couldnt make it, recalled Orgeron, who still winces when he thinks about it. Talk about going from the penthouse to the outhouse. You know what my daddy said? Id look up at him when theyd be yelling at me, and hed turn around and say, Dig!Orgeron wound up reuniting with Hebert at Northwestern State, but he always regretted not giving LSU more of a shot as a player.Thats always been in the back of my mind, Orgeron said. I felt like there was unfinished business.Well, heres his chance.The schedule is brutal the rest of the way, starting with a trip to No. 18 Florida this Saturday and four more games against ranked foes, including No. 1 Alabama at Tiger Stadium. Orgeron said he talked with Miles last week a couple of times, including on Saturday before the gameI just wanted him to know that this was his team, the team he recruited and that we were going to represent, Orgeron said. MIAMI -- As the final horn in a Game 6 loss to the Indiana Pacers was sounding, LeBron James walked toward several of his Miami Heat teammates to shake some hands and share a couple of quick words. His message was clear: Get ready for Game 7. Here comes the ultimate game. To the winner, a trip to the NBA Finals. To the loser, an off-season loaded with regret. Its that simple now for the champion Heat and the confident Pacers, who meet in Game 7 of the Eastern Conference finals Monday night in Miami -- a perk the Heat earned by finishing with the leagues best record this season. "Each and every year there are 30 teams that would love to be a part of this, to have one game to advance to the NBA Finals," James said. "And theres two teams thats in this position. And its something that you cant substitute, this feeling. You cant substitute the atmosphere that were going to be in on Monday night for both teams. We should all cherish this moment." When its over Monday, only one club will be cherishing the outcome. For the Heat, its a chance to move into the finals for the third straight year and keep hope alive of winning a second straight title. For the Pacers, its a chance to cap what would surely go into the books as one of the biggest upsets in NBA playoff history, considering that they finished 16 1/2 games behind the Heat in the regular season. None of that matters much now. The Pacers have beaten Miami five of nine times this season. They need a sixth, or else it was all for naught. "It is a closeout game and an elimination game," Pacers coach Frank Vogel said. "Our approach right now is not if we lose were out -- our approach is if we win, we get to the finals. And thats what were going for. Were going to give our best shot and try to win the Eastern Conference championship." Mondays winner will open the NBA Finals on Thursday against San Antonio. History suggests that the odds are long for the Pacers. Since the NBA went to its current playoff format in 1984, home teams are 16-2 in Game 7s played in the conference finals or NBA Finals. Then again, the Pacers were colossal underdogs heading into this series, and if it wasnt for a last-second collapse at the end of Game 1, they probably would already be East champs. "Its going to be tough in their arena," Pacers guard Lance Stephenson said. "Weve just got to bring it. If we play aggressive like we do at home, we can get the W." Indiana headed to Miami with enough luggage for an eight-day trip. If the Pacers win Game 7, theyre headed to San Antonio, with no time to make a return swing through Indianapolis along the way. "We believe we can win the series. We always have," Vogel said. "We havent been perfect this series, but were going to need to be near perfect to win a Game 7 there." The Pacers had an off-the-court distraction to address Sunday. The team distributed an apology attributed to centre Roy Hibbert, who used a gay slur in his postgame comments on Saturday, plus used a profanity to describe members of the media. When the Pacers flight left for Miami -- it was reportedly delayed because of mechanical issues involving a battery -- the NBA had not announced if it would discipline Hibbert. "They were disrespectful and offensive and not a reflection of my personal views," Hibbert was quoted as saying in the statement released by the team. "I used a slang term that is not appropriate in any setting, private or public, and the language I used definitely has no place in a public forum, especially over live television." Vogel said he spoke with Hibbert about the matter Sunday, saying "he obviously made a great mistake." On the court, though, Hibbert has had nothing to apologize for, dominating play inside while the Heat are struggling in countless ways. Dwyane Wades sore right knee -- which has been an issue for about three months now -- is not getting better anytime soon, and hes stopped even wanting to discuss how its affecting his game. Chris Bosh said he needed to get back in the gym Sunday and regain some lost rhythm.
